About Us

“Center for Education Environment and Community (CEECo)” is a registered non-profit organization aims at making purposeful, dynamic and genuine contributions to environmental improvement schemes on a local and national scale in close collaboration with different stakeholders in the field. CEECo encourages and supports well-planned initiatives aimed at the protection of the environment.

We believe that the Indian societies have expertise in natural resource management and environmental conservation. Traditionally, they have practiced environmental conservation as a part of their day to day living. Post independent developmental models focused on large scale industrial development, mega irrigation projects, centralized system of management and mass production, which resulted in massive environmental degradation. However, recently both government and civil society have realized that those developmental models are not sustainable and any damage to environment would ultimately make this planet as an unsafe place for sentient beings. CEECo’s main mission is to explore and preserve the community knowledge in environmental conservation and apply those ideas in scientific approaches of conservation and management of natural resources.

We believe that the purpose of education should be mainly inculcation of values and building of character rather than the present trend of scoring high marks in the examination. The very approach of scoring high marks in our education system and the craze of pupils and parents for the same greatly affected the quality and intellectual acumen of both teacher and the taught. The science education demands practical knowledge to clearly understand the terms and concepts in a realistic manner. In India, the regular science teaching both at the primary and secondary levels of education is lagging very much in this regard. In this context we promote science education especially environmental education among school children as well as in the community in order to emphasize the importance of environmental education and works for the betterment tomorrow’s environment.
